Yuri, originally from Russia, resides in Chicago and has been coached by TrainingBible Coaching for the past two years. Yuri was significantly overweight, having tipped the scales at over 300 pounds. Admittedly, Yuri had never been a runner, practiced poor nutritional habits and did very little cardio exercise. On Yuri’s 40th birthday, he entered and was accepted into the Kona Hawaii Ironman lottery, in an attempt to do something drastic to change his lifestyle. With the help of his coach, Yuri completed the race in 16 hours, 46 minutes, and finishing brought an onslaught of emotions that have since led him to compete in several other Half Ironman races as well as the Florida Ironman, where he finished in 12 hours, 28 minutes. Yuri now considers himself a “junkie” and is now 100 pounds lighter than when he began his journey.
